Major Rail Operator moves to track management of contractors

One of the UK’s largest rail operators has stepped up its management of contractors by deploying Semieta Visitor Manager and Semieta Contractor Manager at all of its major UK stations.

With some stations managing over 35,000 contractors per year, Semieta Visitor and Contractor Manager is the perfect integrated application to manage the identities of each visiting contractor as well as managing site induction records, method statements and permits to work.

Through Semieta Visitor Manager, each contractor approved to work at any of the operators stations, will have their details captured with a photo ID and stored in a database for reference from any UK station. Integrating with Semieta Contractor Manager, the rail operator also has a business application which allows the organisation to manage the workflow of method statements, risk assessments or any document which needs to be referenced later, allowing only approved companies and contractors to carry out a particular task. This ensures that only valid companies and contractors are allowed on the premises.

Equally work permits can be defined by the organisation and recorded against a method statement record, so when a contractor arrives on site they must complete the assigned permit.

The integrated solution has already realised huge benefits in terms of a reduction in time in signing in contractors and has seen the elimination of a paper sign in process, leading to a much improved efficient method of managing contractors across all of its UK stations.
