With a large number of contractors working at its manufacturing site in London, CCE implemented leading software technology to ensure health & safety compliance, secure its people and premises, reduce its exposure to litigation risk and to better control costs.

Background

CocaCola Logo Coca-Cola Enterprises (CCE) is the largest bottler and distributor of Coca Cola Company products in the world.Its site in Edmonton, London, manufactures and primarily distributes drinks throughout London and the South East of England. Due to the unique nature of some products they also distribute nationally and produce a small amount for export.

There are around 250 people working at the site producing 45 million cases of drinks per year.

Challenge

Challenge Around 120 contractors work onsite at Edmonton each week carrying out activities ranging from air conditioning, plant and equipment maintenance through to IT support and verifying food standards. This represents high expenditure as well as high risk for CCE in terms of managing security, complying with health & safety regulations and controlling quality. Site management recognised that it needed to manage its contractors more effectively in order to protect the site from exposure to undue risk.

Solution

Working closely with CCE, Access IT Data developed Contractor Manager to enable the Edmonton site to rapprove, monitor, control and review its contractors.

It set up a password-controlled application allowing specified users to upload job requirements and assign unique job codes,register ontractors against rigorous, pre-defined criteria, and book pre-approved contractors.

Once a booking is made, the contractor is automatically emailed the job details and site information. Fully integrated with Semieta Visitor Manager, Edmonton’s security desk is now prepared when contractors arrive.Identification passes are automatically created with photo identification added, required Permits to Work are printed ready for signature, and the designated internal contacts are notified.

Users provide ongoing updates about job progress and contractor performance and download operational and financial reports as well as roll call in the event of an emergency.
